What's trending - occasional chairs

2019 was the year when velvet became widespread, and now 2020 will see our love affair with deep-pile textiles continue to rise. Heavyweight wools, bouclé, mohair and sheepskin are fabrics that will evolve from autumn/winter novelties into a year-round trend. And the great news is that our carefully selected suppliers continue to innovate and create some lovely designs.

The definition of an 'occasional chair' is just that: a chair that is used only occasionally, and as such does not detract from all your other furniture. On the contrary it complements it and fits in. We love occasional chairs because they can be moved around from room to room as and when required, and as a result they are the perfect solution when you find yourself with a surplus of guests to entertain! You would, of course, need to stick to a fairly neutral colour in order to move the occasional chair around and have it fit in well, but it now appears that occasional chairs are increasingly being used as part of design themes for individual rooms. In this case they tend to feature contrasting fabrics, or are used with a plain textured material with scattered cushions to add colour and interest.

We believe that everyone needs an occasional chair in their home as they often become a favourite place to sit, and are frequently 'adopted' by one particular member of the family. The new designs are exceptionally comfortable and proving to be an interiors 'must have' when styling a room.
